The Government Inspector, staged at Chichester Festival Theatre, required a distinctive bureaucratic environment brought to life through an inventive scenic approach. Scena delivered a complete set installation including custom flooring, floor-to-ceiling filing cabinet walls with integrated drawers, a functional window and door system, and a specialized bed truck unit featuring a collapsing bed mechanism.
The filing cabinets were fully dressed with papers to create an authentic administrative atmosphere, whilst custom-built prop houses were positioned atop the cabinet structures. A key technical feature was the large door frame, engineered with pivot points that allowed the frame itself to open upstage, creating sufficient clearance for the bed truck to pass through during scene transitions.
