Winchester Cathedral commissioned a major exhibition for its newly renovated South Transept, designed by Metaphor to span three floors. Scena was appointed principal contractor to produce and install all setworks and joinery, as well as coordinate lighting, audio visual hardware, showcases, interactive exhibits, specialist glass work, and graphics. The installation featured glass wall graphics, display showcases, models, high-quality display furniture, and both mechanical and audio visual interactive exhibits.
The South Transept had recently undergone renovation to an exceptionally high standard befitting the historic cathedral. Scena's skilled craftsmen fabricated all joinery elements using premium oak, achieving the level of finish demanded by Metaphor Design and the Cathedral authorities. All elements were coordinated and delivered to the required programme and budget while maintaining the exacting standards expected for a Grade I listed building.
With the Cathedral fully operational throughout the installation period, Scena worked alongside the client's project management team to ensure the installation programme accommodated the Cathedral's busy schedule, including Christmas and Easter services. The team successfully managed the complex logistics of installing a multi-floor exhibition within an active place of worship, ensuring minimal disruption to visitors and services.
